Skype integration

Ok, while everyone was getting drunk i updated the site and if you go to your user profile you'll see that you can now enter your skype id into your profile along with your AOL, MSN, ICQ ids etc.

It's like a headset you plug into your computer and you can use it to speak directly to other people who are online that have Skype. And it doesn't cost anything I don't think.

That sounds ace! I would get it only i dont know anyone who has it so it would be a bit of a waste of time

Can you just talk online or can you call peoples phones?

yeah you can call homes and mobiles, but i think thats costs, although the costs seem to be similar to normal phone calls.

they are similar to normal phone calls - the best thing about it though, is that it costs roughly the same as a local phone call wherever you are calling.

Think about it, it's on the net, so it doesn't need to know where you are - so calling someone in the USA is just the same as calling someone next door.

But the calling between computers is totally free.

The way Hat of Cheese described it, it sounds like you have to buy a headset for it. this isn't exactly true, Skype itself is just a piece of free software that you can download and use with any speakers (or headphones) and microphone. You can also buy specially designed handsets to work with it though. like the one at the top of this page

And KJ, You should make it a bit cooler - there's the MSN logo, then there's the big long "Send a message via Skype to <username>". Also, if you click the link, there's 2 of every option for some reason.
