new server

Ok, some of you, well, most of you will have noticed how slow UGS has been running recently and it's gotten so bad that i've decided to move the site onto a dedicated server as i have a better deal than the one we used to have.

We'll see speed and performance increases as well as traffic and membership increases and hopefully it'll give the site a new lease of life too.

I've also got a few other surprises instore for you all including the return of some of our old features that we got rid of when we moved the site onto a cheaper server.

It's got to the point where the shared server is making it harder for me to run and maintain the website and that in turn leads to other issues.

I'll keep you posted but hopefully the move will be done within the week or so.

Thanks to all the diehards who keep coming back to the site, i promise things will get better for all very soon.

awesome! it's been really really slow the last couple of days - i assumed it was to do with the haxxors mentioned in a couple of threads (i never experienced any problems apart from slowness) but the return of some of the old stuff will be cool. More uCash wars? Arcade high scores? it's all good (y)

I would just like to say to ALL the ugs memebrs that KJ is doing a helluva job keeoing the site going and getting site sponsors.

it would be good if people started to contribute a lot more to the site in the form of reviews etc as that is what the site is supposed to be based on (i'm bad for that too, I think I've written 2 articles in 4 years :s)

People that use the site a lot, even if its just to use Lounge/Bollocks really should look at helping the site by contributing £2 a month as a supporter of UGS. (just renewed my subs!)

I am going to make a more concerted efforted to do reviews of any promo stuff I get in future.

Remember the Wiki is there aswell for everyone to add to. That could make an excellent resource if it was fully utilised by folk.

i quite fancy writing a few reviews, i have a higher english so they wouldnt be so bad.... but thought about if before and decided not to as the criticism on here is quite high and it wasnt somthing i felt comfortable being criticised.

if anyone wants to write reviews you cna do so under a different name if you like. I understand some people dont want to write because they are recognised on the site but don't feel bad about creating a reviewer account if you feel the need

It'd be a great help.

So what if people don't agree with your review, some will and some won't.

As long as you give review thats in depth and not just " I thought it was shite/great!" then go for it.

The web is a haven for criticism, but at least you would be contributing to quality content =)
