Due to kj being buried waist-deep in stuff people wanted him to review, I've offered to step in and try to take some of the pressure off.

Introducing The New UGS Review System

So, what's it all about?

It means that you can now submit music or video for review and be sure of getting it reviewed by the finest minds that UGS has to offer.

How does it work then?

Well, it starts with someone submitting something to me for review. Then I will have a few listens and write a review of it, but I will also pass it on to other UGS reviewers. They will have a week to write a review and sent it back to me, then I will collate all the reviews and publish them on UGS.

My band is the shiznit! How do I submit something?

If you want to send in a CD or DVD, email me at ugsreviews@googlemail.com and I will give you an address to post it to.

If you want to submit something online then you have a few options:
If it's something that you can compress (e.g. MP3) to 10 megabytes or less then just email it to the address above. Don't forget to send another email as well letting me know that you sent the first one.

If it's more than one track or a video it will probably be too large to email. If this is the case then you can host it yourself on a web or file server and just email the link (and username and password if needed). Or you could use a service like YouSendIt that allows hosting of files of up to 100 MB for up to a week. You upload the file to them and then send me the link to download it.

If the file is streamable from something like MySpace or YouTube you could email me a link to the page, but bear in mind that streaming services usually reduce the quality of files they host.

Note that in any case where you send me a CD or a file and not a link you will need to give me permission to send copies to the other reviewers. Nobody will be permitted to make copies for non-review purposes.

Cool. Can I be a reviewer?

Sure. Simple email or PM me with something that will convince me of your competence (just grab a random CD off the shelf and write 100 words about it). If it's half-decent or better you're in and I will start sending you material to review. Oh, and if you're in a band or you join one then you must let me know so that I don't send you your own stuff to review.

Will people know who is doing the reviewing?

No, when the reviews are published each reviewer will only be identified by a number. If you have an issue with a review that has been published then please get in touch with me and I will investigate.
