New gig guides

One of the things that the site has been lacking is an easy to use area where people can search for gigs by location, city etc etc since the gigs forum can be quite messy at times. Well i have begun work on this and the starters are up on the UGS home page. You can access gig guides for each of the main cities in Scotland. Once it is finished you'll be able to choose a gig guide from all the towns and cities in the drop down menu on the calendar

Each listing also links to the discussion thread on the forum and the calendar entry. It will also be listed in order of next to last and will hide passed events. Right now it just shows them in the opposite warning, but i'm tired and i'll fix that tomorrow.

Suggestions and ideas of new features for the gig guides would be greatfully appreciated and i'll code the good ones into the final product.

Take a look at the Dundee gig guide

When the venue is entered when the gig is added to the calendar the gig guide will automatically create a link to that page in the wiki. If the page doesnt exist in the wiki you have the choice of creating it when you click the venue link in the gig guide

Gigs are displayed in order of next to last, and past gigs are hidden from view

Each title links to the discussion thread in the forum.

Pretty proud of that, so now its time to start adding your gigs!

Thanks man, took me a few days hacking a few bits and pieces. All we need now is people to start filling it with their gig dates! I'm especially proud of the venue wiki link feature. Hopefully we can build a good profile of venues and venue reviews on the wiki through this and really make it a strong feature for the site. I'll be sending out a mailout to the subscribers later on today at some point.
