Sony banning second hand ps3 sales?

I'm hearing rumours that Sony are planning on including technology into their hardware and software releases that will prevent second hand sales of their software. If so wouldn't that be putting the boot into any chance the PS3 has of retaining the huge market share Sony currently enjoys?
