Playstation 3 delayed..... until March!

Holy shit that's some major news. If Microsoft and Nintendo play their cards right they could develop a stranglehold on the European market before Sony even have a chance to respond

well, i was intending to get a ps3 before xmas, but im not actually that bothered about the delay.

i mean, guaranteed the launch games would have been a mass of EA sports pish and need for speed 11,12 and 49.

by that time UT 2007 and Half life 2 should be out etc

The real reason for this delay is the problem with their HD drives. They made a total cock up. It's one thing after the other for Sony and their PSP is looking to go down the tubes too what with the development of their new Mylo handheld media device.

Quote:
The sales delay is caused by a problem in mass producing a key component in the Blu-ray disc laser part of the machine, the next-generation successor to Sony Corp.'s hit PlayStation 2, Sony Computer Entertainment Chief Ken Kutaragi told reporters.

it because of the blu-ray laser diode. thats what happens when you throw brand new experimental technology in a mass produced package. personally i just hope it helps people make the transition to the xbox 360, which is better than the ps3 in my opinion cos it'll have better games, and buy the wii as the 2nd console as i will be doing. after the bullshit i had to go through with disk read errors on my ps2 and the constant battery problems with my mp3 walkman i will never again use sony products unless somebody buys me a vaio which i would not pay for.

Sony definately seem to be going through a rough patch what with their battery recalls from Dell and Apple and now this. It wouldn't surprise me if HD-DVD becomes the format of choice although now Dell have announced their be supporting Blu-Ray in future Dell machines.

i read somewhere that HD DVD uses the same blue laser diodes...so that will be affected too apparently. in the same article it said sony were putting almost all available blue laser diodes into ps3s at the moment..
