Sony Home
When does that Sony social networking thing come on line? It's meant to be a much smoother, better looking, version of Second Life and it's free.
They have a beta coming soon.

I'll only be getting one when Metal Gear Solid 4 or PS Home comes out. Which ever is first. But aye, would be good fun I think. It definitely looks pretty sweet.

I don't think I'll be getting one unless a load of games come out that aren't on the Xbox.
I don't think there's much point in getting one at the moment, if you already have a 360. There's not really much difference in capabilities between the two, and most games will be out for both anyway. The prospect of a cheap blueray player will start to look more tempting if blueray really has won the war against HD DVD though. |

One, perhaps two, more film house(s) moved across the Blu-Ray this week. Warner have announced they'd be releasing only on Blu-Ray and there are rumours that Paramount have a release clause stating that if Warner switched to Blu-Ray that Paramount reserved the right to do the same thing. We'll have to wait and see what happens but it's not looking good for HD DVD. Perhaps confirmation of the rumours surrounding a new version of the 360 with a built in HD DVD drive cannot come soon enough.

i had a ps3, then punted it.
i grudged it but i changed jobs and monthly pay had me fucked! the fact everythings so similar to 360 and the higher price point means it cant be a very attractive buy! But as a console, the thing feels a lot more sturdy, where as ive seen 360s scratch discs, die, or not read discs so many times. Last edited by ArchFlameTera : 8th January 2008 at 09:20 PM. |

that would be a really bad move in my opinion, they wouldnt be able to use it for games as all the millions of 360 users would go mental, and rightly so! |

What do you mean they wouldn't be able to use it for games? The drive would still play current and future 360 games.

Yeah but what makes you think that? There are drives on the market that play both Blu-Ray and HD DVD. If MS were to release this on their 360 you'd can bet your bottom dollar they'd make it fully compatible.
Even if the games were not on HD DVD discs they'd still be read by the drive. That's why you can listen to music CDs on the 360.

They wouldn't be able to use the HD DVD drive for HD DVD games, as splitting your market base like that has proven to be a very bad idea for games companies in the past. (i.e. Sega)

I'm confused. How would that be splitting the marketplace? I'm probably missing something obvious here so forgive me lol. Is it to do with patents on the HD DVD tech?

aye, thats not what i meant. Apologies if im not reading this correctly or something, half asleep and have a bad cold! I meant say, if there was a new 360 released with an HD-DVD drive, and the next gears of war was made and sold on an HD-DVD disc, then all of the current 360 owners who don't have an HD-DVD drive in there console wouldn't be able to play it. And this would surely mean most developers wouldn't bother with HD DVD 360 games? Unless they made 2 versions, one on HD disc formats and another inferior one on DVD. again im probably wrong, humandislocation will know better!
