well, they expect the ps3 to sell consoles on mgs and gta alone, and gta was a multiplatform release!

sony really need to pull their finger outta their ass, it's already widely known that microsoft will do whatever it takes to win this round of console wars, including taking losses, so either mgs will have to be so amazing that 360 fans give up their 360/buy both consoles, or sony have to rethink their strategy!

I mean, nintendo have the "non-gamer" market, basically creating their own niche, microsoft have sewn up online players, with halo 3 and gears of war as wel as lost planet and now, downloadable gta stuff. what have sony got?

To be fair though, I don't see much of a point getting a PS3 at the moment. Aside from blueray, there's not really much of a difference between the two, and the 360 has more games at the moment.

The vast majority of games will be on both platforms, and will probably be much the same on both platforms, so it's really down to which of the two you prefer.

I think Haze, or whatever it's called, has to be the first time I've seen a PS3 exclusive that's even remotely interested me. Except maybe Resistance - Fall of Man.

I don't think they'll be able to answer that question until the dust settles on the Xbox 360 vs PS3 for this generation. The 360 might compete really well, it might tank. It's far too early to say.

To be honest, i like both the 360 and the PS3. My only gripe with the 360 is it's fail rate. It chewed my discs and the power unit on it died so when i got a chance of a PS3 i snapped it up.

The only people who will win this "console war" is Us. We'll all get great games, great content and other amazing features as time go's on.

I only have one problem....

2 days to raise £50 cash to buy this... anyone lonely?

Doesn't really matter how long sony expect the ps3 life cycle to be, I'm sure as hell not gonna buy a ps3 instead of the replacement microsoft console.

I might even have a half decent gamer score by then!

Nah, im sorry but when a products fail rate is so bad that it gets featured on watchdog and even xbox magazines im not gonna keep pumping money into a company thats putting it out there no matter how good the games might be.

Aye, that's a good point. Aside from people that don't really give much of a shit about games, who buys a last-gen console when one of the next-gen consoles is already out?

I doubt that many people in this thread fall into the bracket that really gives a shit how long the PS3's cycle is going to be.

As for Microsoft's next console. I'll be reserving judgement on which side to choose, for when there's decent information about Sony and Microsoft's new offerings.

But I'd imagine that your using one of the buggiest operating systems around on your PC though?

Microsoft have a bad reputation for overcharging for peripherals which you would expect to be included originally, releasing things before they are ready (1st gen 360 consoles, xp, vista etc) but I knew that before I bought my 360 and I knew that when my 360 broke with the red lights of death.

Yup. I'll admit that im using XP on this computer but i'd be lying if i said i paid for it.
