Top Of the Pops
I watched this for the first time in ages and altho im well aware of the state of the british charts it was embarrasing! Also, the gulf in class between the british performers and Americans was painfully evident!
Missy Elliott was on and altho she isnt to my taste shes really talented and i know she produces artists aswell, Alicia Keys was on too and she had an incredible voice and presence Then who comes on for the British? Only bloody Alfie Moon from Eastenders miming his way thru a cover version and making a right arse of himself! |

Aye, I watched it a week or so ago and there was Jane's Addiction playing their new song, with Navarro giving his usual giratory guitar performances thrusting his crotch at the wee teenyboppers and Perry Farrel running about like a nut... it was followed by a truly nonse-festivital Stereophonics song. Cat Deeley then triped "Two amazing bands rock bands there, from both sides of the atlantic."
I felt disenchanted. I did. |

alfie moon clearly has no taste (cat from eastenders anyone?) and no talent. he would have mde an excellent Bingo caller but nothing more.
oh and REM a couple of weeks ago were the only good thing on totp in the last year or so... there have been some classic performances though, that gives me an idea for a thread... |

Just remembered - The White Stripes doing "Dead Leaves And The Dirty Ground" on TOTP - Raw as fuck and Jack White looked deranged. Quality moment.
As far as the guy from Eastenders, charity cover songs shouldn't be allowed in the charts. Sell the damn things for a good cause by all means but don't make everyone suffer! |
