Question What's the name of this (Hammer?) film?

There’s a film I saw *years* ago which I can’t recall the name of but I would love to see again.

It was about a family who moved into a house which had recently been vacated by an elderly couple. The house had crossed swords on one wall. As soon as they moved in, nasty things started happening, with blood pouring from the light fittings during the young daughter’s birthday party, the family pet appearing in a butcher’s window etc. I’m sure it ended with the little girl creeping up to her parents with one of the swords as they slept.

It was the first video I ever saw and I wished – at the time, anyway – that I had heeded my mum’s warnings not to watch any as it scared me for years. I assumed it would be easy enough to find through the plot search at imdb or just by Googling it but I haven’t had much luck. I reckon it’s probably a Hammer film. Can anyone help?

Yes, I think so. I can't remember if it was from pipes or the light, but it poured from the ceiling onto all the children and into their jelly and ice cream. Boo hoo.

You're absolutely right - thanks! It seems to have been part of the Hammer House of Horror TV series rather than a 'proper' film. Someone told me years ago that it was The House That Dripped Blood, so they were *nearish*.

even though i consider myself more a vincent price buff than a hammer man, im insulted you didnt ask.

i know about the house that dripped blood, because vince declined a part in it. he loathed blood and guts. unsure if it was a hammer, did have chris and pete, so im guessing it was.

the episode is actually called "the house that bled to death" its a hammer production and was a british take off of amityville.

i thank you and goodnight.

Whooops! No offence intended as you are of course my favourite horrifically-minded vaguely-related person called Mike (to post in this thread, anyway).

Although I had been wondering what the film was called for literally years, it suddenly became a *very* *pressing* *matter* in my mind, due to the intense pre-lunch boredom I was experiencing. It was BUY IT NOW! fever in film form. Or something.
