Edgar Wright and the guy that plays "Dwayne" in Spaced are in quite a few episodes. I think Simon Pegg is in them too.
My friend Haeligh got me into this a few months ago. Look around you, The Day Today and Brasseye...three top quality British comedys that we can get on cheap dvds. Score!

You should read The Timewaster Letters by Robin Cooper (an alias of Robert Popper, the writer of Look Around You). An hilarious read. Beware of the equally hilarious number of poor copycat books that've sprung up of late though.
