I agree. The p-rock channel, that is really shit also. Does the p stand for pish. The only good band i saw on it was the Business and even then it was a shite song. What a joke

I agree with that also, every channel is catering for whatever is cool in the music media at the time - another channel is scuzz which is basically all emo bands - what the fuck is emo an excuse for? I think its an excuse to spawn more fucking boring, talentless, ordinary, spoilt brat bands for kids who can pretend do be depressed and who write a dead journal.

it helps people bridge the gap between different styles of music. However many people are too greedy to share certain brands of music (even if they claim to hold a strong anti-greed, punk mentality) and so they dont want the masses to have the chance to develop similair tastes to them.

However, in my opinion, because there is no way of stopping this from happening, certain people go the next step, and decide to hate every band that is on mainstream TV, because if they do that, then people who see these bands on TV wont be liking the same bands...

For example, an acquaintance of mine was a massive fan of the exploited - then they were on P-Rock, and wham! suddenly their pish!?

This doesnt go for everyone, but it is undoubtable that when it comes to music breaking into the mainstream, especially 'punk' music, it is seen as a negative thing not because they are 'going against what they stand for', but because people are too greedy to share 'their' music... it all comes down to elitism in the end. One group will always think they are better than another, at least some groups admit they feel this way, but others choose to hide behind a mask - claiming that music should be for everyone and should not be exploited, when in fact, they are acting with complete hypocrasy.

I have no problems with people who stand up to strong beliefs, but when they completely go against themselves - which so many do - its just petty.

There are many ways of becoming well known with out using mainstream music industry. Punk/underground bands have nothing to do with being elitist. Constant touring, fanzines are a very good means of getting your band heard. I just think any band that is part of the mainstream music industry loses their integrity. Why should i stop talkng about this? I thought this message board was called underground scene? So should we not be talking about issues that effect the underground "scene"

Where else can you get the same episodes of Dirty Sanchez, Jackass and The Ossbournes over and over and over and oaver and over and over and over and over again!? eh!? NO WHERE!!

Hell yeah MTV is shite, it used to be good when superock was on and youd catch the odd rare Slayer or Mettalica vid, but now it's just balls, although i'm actually quiete glad that it finnished beacuse i wouldn't wanna see little shits going around on their skateboards with thier baggy jeans wearing Malevolant Creation or Slayer T-Shirts.

bands dont have to allow themselves to be shown on mainstream TV, and if they dont want to allow this, then they shouldnt... but bands who do want to allow themselves to be shown on tv, fair enough! theyre just reaching a different audience - an audience that many people dont feel should be exposed to it...

Punk/Underground Bands should have nothing to do with being elitest, but face it, so many of them are... Then again, there are countless amazing, honest, good and sound bands out there - again I was just pointing out a minority, which is risking becoming a majority...

And aye, dont stop talking about this - I was meaning to counter the Dead Kennedies quote, which i feel is a bit harsh, but we are all indeed entitled to our own opinions...

There is nothing that compares to working hard to get your band heard by who you want to hear it, but if they want to feature on MTV, let them...
