Aberdeen Vs Dundee Vs Edinburgh Vs Glasgow Vs Perth
The more I look at these forums etc the more I wonder what the hell is wrong with everyone. Why is there so much bitching in the Scottish music scene. Surely people should try and work together.
Personally I don`t care where a band is from, Mars for all I care, I`ll still put them on if I have a suitable bill. Musical opinions are all well and good but what is the point in slating scenes/bands/venues etc when everybody in essence is trying to work together. If you are in a band and want to get out of your local town etc then stop bitching and moaning and actualy get off your arse and contact venues/promotors etc. Put in the ground work and you`ll reep the rewards* eventually. *varying degrees of rewards obviously Why don`t bands rather than bitch with each other just get together and sort out gig swaps etc. Get a band from 4 different places in Scotland and all go on tour for 4 days. It`s that easy.... Book it way in advance and only play venues that you feel the local band can at least half fill. That way it benefits everyone on the tour. No doubt this`ll probably decend into another bitch fest but heh, that just proves my point. |

The kids from benhokie never like the kids from bencokie. Didn't you know that?
But really, I'd rather get something creative going out of this argument, so I'll offer up an Aberdeen leg for this 4 date tour. Last edited by Bob Knight : 27th March 2004 at 05:37 PM. |

Holy badger shit is this actually bands from throughout Scotland working together...
Apologies if that sounded patronising..... Hopefully good things will come of this..... Just make sure that the local band "headline" and then everyone swaps positions on the bill etc. That way nobody goes on first all the time or whatever. Make up some cds to sell...don`t make a compilation as some people will only like 1 of the four and will rather part with cash for that band rather than the same amount of cash for a compilation featuring 1 track by the band they liked. Also try and route it properly.... Glasgow ->Dundee-> Aberdeen ->Perth -> Edinburgh or whatever..... Easier to go from Aberdeen to Edinburgh than Glasgow.....although it`s only 30 mins extra.... Also make sure that you have credible venues as then people will be used to turning up to them etc. |

Also, we are in Aberdeen the 26th June with Shatterhand and Barefoot, if the promoter hasn't already got a local band booked yet maybe the date could be of use to one of you guys. Just a thought!
