Yeah but the bands at fatties will bring all their mates.. and that's what makes a crowd in dundee usually.
Unless the touring band are in Kerrang/ on MTV, expect a low turnout. It happens *every* time...

But if some of these band that went through only brought 2 or 3 people before. they won't bring 100 next time.

Maybe the total number of people who turned up to the 4 heats was around 1000? Or maybe that's Fatties fire limit? All the same, you'd do well to get 1000 people along to see an established medium profile touring band at the Caird Hall, so i wouldn't hold my breath.

On the subject of the competition itself, i don't agree in principle so i didn't enter or go along. Simple as that.

i still don't think emergenza has let anybody down. It did exactly what it said on the tin.

btw i rekon 1000 isn't that far off the mark

Far off the mark for:

a) Fatties fire limit
b) The total number of people who went to all four heats
c) Thnumber of people you reckon will go along to see bands they can see anytime in Dundee for less Â£Â£?

Each band has 100 tickest plus more if they want.
Every band is going to try like fuck to sell loads of tickets so they have a better chance of going to the carling academy.
Every bands mates will be more likely to go to a gig like this if the band tell them its quite an important event and tell them they really need there support.

I dont think its too much to expect a crowd of 1000. put it this way, there are 5 in my band, all we have to do is sell 20 tickets each which im sure we will.

I felt disenfranchised with the whole BOTB set up quite early into Goldbloom's life, when we got put out by a band that can only be described as "sports metal" (which was riding high at the time).
I'm happy to say that we didn't pay to enter this as it was a school run thing

Can I just make clear that Emergenza did not speculate on how big the turn out would be a Fat Sams. At the end of the day this has been organised to be a great gig in a touring venue and a step up for local bands who are used to playing the same venues week in and week out. Regardless if 100 turn up or 1000, Fatties will be a top gig because we put everything into what we do for the Emergenza bands.

Actually, no. The bands pay a one off enrollment fee, (which they can make back and some!) and are welcome to play with us for the next 50 years if they wish and will not be charged again.
As well as the showcase events we also arrange gigs for the bands. In fact, I just invited a Dundee band to play the Barfly in Glasgow last Saturday night. If I was purely financially motivated, I would have asked a Glasgow band who could've brought fans with them.
