Best venues

whats the best venues you've been to see a gig at and why? I miss the old Westie in Dundee, mainly cos the only time i ever saw crowd surfing, well for the first time, in Dundee was at the Busdriver's gig there in 2002 i think it was. Now every one knows how small that used to be, never mind having enough room to crowdsurf, amongst a band made up for 7 members(?) i think.

Nice wee place it was.

i love going to the garage in glasgow. The only time i was there was to see suicidal tendencies in 2002 and it just seemed intimate yet big enough for crowd surfing etc.

Aye man. The old westie in general holds many fond memories for me, as a venue it was fantastic, the atmosphere can not be compared to anything else. It would be great to capture that once again. Heard for a good while now its getting knocked down, I hope this doesnt come around, I'd love to see the place open up into the great wee pub/venue it once was

Yeah the old westie was grand for such sights as: band members clambering up in the rafters and singing upside down and someone diving off of the stage. for some reason, diving headfirst off of the stage when it's a foot off the ground was even more impressive to me than if the stage was 7 feet off the ground.

i like the liquid rooms in Embra. it's just really really good

We're playing there at the end of next month, so will report back then.

I liked the old Westie because you didn't need too many people to turn up to make it look busy.

I'm pretty indifferent towards King Tuts. The Attic in Edinburgh was pretty cool, and i was disappointed that the Cas Rock shut just before i moved down there.

i've actually always liked the glasgow academy, even when it just opened and everyone hated it. now i work there, but i still really like it for gigs. i've only ever found the barras to have a decent amount of atmosphere once (weezer 2002), it's too box shaped and a bit boring, i don't like it much. i do like the little bar down the stairs though, which is what i'm assuming vaya was referring to. also, i'm surprised king tuts got some many mentions. it has bugger all atmoshere and is always fucking cold.
