The tartanpodcast needs you

All,

I host and produce the 1st music-based podcast from Scotland...in the world!

A podcast is basically an internet radio show that you download onto your PC/Mac and then listen to it, or transfer it to your mp3 player, such as an iPod (hence the name podcast).

It's a fairly new medium, but it's growing fast with about 5,000 podcasts globally. A recent survey suggested that about 6 million Americans have listened to a podcast in the past 6 months.

The tartanpodcast has been going for about 6 weeks, I've produced 11 shows, learning as I go.

My listeners are global, but around 75% are North American, 1 in particular is an Apple employee and the tartanpodcast is 1 of only 3 podcasts she listens too. I have listeners in Jamaica, Croatia....and Wales.

I get regular feedback, comments and emails - including mp3 feedback - from around the world and the word is; people LOVE hearing Scottish artists.

I'm also a member of the Association of Music Podcasts (AMP - www.musicpodcasting.org). Once I give a band their podcast debut on the tartanpodcast, I forward their details into the AMP library. That puts the band's/artist's details at the disposal of the rest of the AMP podcasters.

If you'd like to be played on the tartanpodcast, what do you need to do?

1. email me at tartanpodcast@gmail.com
2. give me the link to your site, permission to download and use any mp3s you may have, or arrange to send a copy of your album
3. give me a brief paragraph about yourself, your gigs, any music available to buy
4. a link to where people can buy your music, or download it for themselves

That's about it.

Thanks,

Mark

The artists don't receive royalties for being played. It would be understood that they'd be giving permission for their music to be played with no money paid. The tartanpodcast (at the moment) makes no money anyway.

I suppose the chance for your music to get an audience, and for a link to be on the tartanpodcast website where people can buy your music is the only incentive at present.
