Groucho's is "shit" for vinyl because no-one wants to give their "amazing" records away.
I find gems (OMD, Talk Talk, Talking Heads, Roxy Music, Devo, The Human League, Donna Summer, The Church, Cocteau Twins, The Fall, Echo & the Bunnymen, Kate Bush, Kraftwerk... etc.) all the time in Groucho's, for rarely more than £3 (& sometimes a single pound). I love it. |

I was in Grouchos 2 days ago to find their indie 7" section was massive again, got a china drum promo 7" and bad religion signed single for a quid each. Sadly I think ebay etc have degraded the quality of stuff you find in record shops and fairs as people sell rarities online instead of to a shop as its the only place they would find to buy it.
Thats said Im currently clearing out a load of my music stuff and once Ive went through it all Ill be putting it on UGS. CUrrently have about 40singles for definite inclusing some I have 3 copies of for some bizarre reason. There used to be an amazing vinyl shop above the newsagent in the seagate which sadly closed about 5 years ago.

I love the sound of Vinyl, the clicking, popping and background fuzz can add to alot of tunes much softer sound. Dundee is Terrible for new releases but i also heard that new virgin would be coming round soon! Keep fingers crossed!

I've spoken to my boss today, and Virgin should be stocking new release 7" singles again from the 15th of August. We won't get everything in that week, but we should be back to normal (ie what we got in the old store) from the 22nd.

www.picadillyrecords.co.uk is quite a good online vinyl store.
i like groucho's tho it is a funny one - sometimes it's a little steep but i also managed to pick up a near mint copy of lou reed's tranformer for a quid. |
