FAO: Local Bands

I'm not sure if this counts as advertising, but it is to benifit the local music scene as well as myself i suppose, so any mods can delet this if they see fit. disclaimer over,lets crack on.

Me and Dave (daveoftheband) are about to set up an internet radio station thanks to various charities (project scotland,pure media, root chord) and one of the main things we'd like to push to the fore is to support and present local music. We're hoping that this will be up and running by summer time and will hopefully have a lot of advertising through various mediums that the organisations will deal with.

Since the local radio station isn't really too involved with the local music scene, we think this is where we can really help out bands. If you'd like to be featured on one of the shows feel free to pm me for my address. Like I said it hopefully will be up and running by summer so theres no rush really. It would also be good to have some feedback from people if they have any other ideas of how we could use this media to promote local music of any and all genres. We may also be looking to bring members of different bands in to record some shows when its up and running, either to advertise your bands gigs or just for a bit of a laugh. as for now we cant rule much out so any input would be grand.

greta idea. it is beign done to a certain exptent already (maybe not as local as you would have it) Nessmp3.com is for independant and unsigned bands. pending a submission vote bands accepted are given an artist page which they are free to modify, host mp3s, videos, pictures, show event dates and even a shop facility to globaly sell merch yourself!

the best part however is the new software allows you to make up stations of hosted artists for yourself and visitors to listen to. ALSO nessmp3radio was doing well and climbing in the Live365 charts giving nessmp3 artist global exposure (listeners from as far as new zeland were logging onto the site and listening to the radio station!)

One of nessmp3's co founders is Dave Siddley, the guy behind the Bond Electroglyde guitar! whislt one of the broadcasters is Stevie Smith, ex mouthy player with Bad Manners!

what you have in mind is far more local though so i can see it taking off! if you want any help on how they set up the radio station and stuff PM me and i'll pass on a few email addresses adn phone numbers.

we've got plenty help at the moment through the organisations I mentioned before. there's plenty people well nursed in audio engineering and promotion etc. like i said we're only in the baby stages but it can't hurt to get peoples opinions and perspectives on this and get a stockpile of ep's and such before getting started.
