Balcony Bar not to close (long appeals process)

the Balcony Bar is to close in 14 days time

yup no more gigs there people

Some of you may not be bothered by this news but this place for me, and many other peeps that post on this board, was a regular haunt...with its friendly bar staff (well some of them) and wee pub feeling i loved it. Have been to come good gigs in there and i thought it was a braw we pub. I have drank there for about 6 years and will sadly miss it many good memories

long live the Balcony (or not as the case is)

NOOOOO! this can't happen coz its our pub. So many fond memories of nights here and silly antics. I hope something can be done to fix it.

i have enjoed playing some good gigs in the balcony, thats a shame to hear it, But the place was usually dead and needed significant upgrading, But i Hope it can be fixed

Nowhere else in Scotland (no exaggeration) is as good as the Balcony pub for atmosphere, people and music, this is indeed very very sad news.
Has this anything to do with the smoking ban or is the timing just coincidence?

oh darn! that is shame.. i enjoyed visiting to go to balcony bar cos of music and people i met there. darn darn darn.. is anything we can do to make the balcony bar open?

when it was cramped for gigs it was a good atmosphere, it,s just a shame they could,nt have done more to upgrade it, better decor, jukebox etc, as i think that is/was a major factor that the staff played music from the computer and the punters did,nt really get a say.

it could happen, was studio 24 in edingburgh not saved by doing that? maybe i,m wrong

I say we storm the council with some kind of big pokey stick and demand they keep it open! It may be a shitehole, but its a good shitehole. Upgrading it would have made it less like the Balc we know and love!
