To me there are two two of people: those who do and those who don't. The Rise to me are a group of people that do. From where I stand they have achieved a lot (more than most bands in Dundee) and are continuing to do so. Gigs in London(and I dont mean the GBOB), Manchester et al don't come easy and are normally poped into the too hard box for most people. They have played in the London Garage, which to me is exceptional. There are a couple of gigs like this in the pipeline too. Alan McGee has invited the guys to play for him as well. Not every band can make it but these guys are giving it a really good go.
As for the management quotes. Who are you to cast dispersions on how I do business. The press we had was real and if you want copies you can just ask. I see no need to sugar coat things, to me the truth is always the best policy. The press release was put together because we had done lots of interviews and as such people were going to question us on this issue.
If you have any other comments about the management of the rise please feel free to contact me directly to discuss however I will not conduct a conversation on this forum.
Now Clogs on to you what have you achieved? What put you in a position to question other peoples achievements. As you say you are putting yourself on here for discussion. Are you someody that does or doesn't.

There's a difference. I didnt put my band up for discussion, so I wont start. I do admire your professional response though, so well done.

Getting gigs in London/Manchester isn't exactly the hardest thing to do though... Almost on a daily basis I see 'we have played TEN gigs including ONE IN LONDON!" - what difference does it make?

your right getting gigs in London is not hard. Getting the right gigs, i.e. good venue, good night, not pay to play etc, is hard.

What is there to negotiate?

Well there is sponsorships, funding, press coverage, other touring bands, venues, promotion, travel, accomodation and where we can get drugs!

Over 30 dates are being discussed for the tour it's not a case of turn up to a couple of shite holes in England play support to some local twats then come back up the road

We have never stated that we are great that is a preconception by yourself because of our confidence. If you don't have confidence in yourself then who well? The management that you seem to have dressed up like a bloody M&M?

It makes all the difference, to get hundreds of miles away from home in the largest city on our island, play in front of hundreds of people and they say that what you're doing is amazing. Better than getting a gig in Dunfermline and people thinking you're shit. There are hundreds of venues in London and we knock back loads of them cause all they want is money through the door of there pish little boozer in Walford Square. London is all about opportunity, but you got to get to the right places with the right people. We played the Astoria in front of over 1000 strangers and now have been asked down by Alan McGee to play for him in a showcase night. That's the difference

I'd say there are maybe three types - those who do, those who don't, and those who get others to do things for them. Just like there were three types of kids at the beach - those who built their own sandcastles, those who kicked them over, and those who got ones built for them and gullibly believed that they had the best sandcastle when in fact what they had were the ones that were going to wash away easiest with the tide.

Pro tip: When you're coming out with comments like "HURRR U HAVE A VAGINA THAT U LIKE TO RUB AND U R A NERD FOR USING THE INTERNET LOL DID I MENTION U HAVE A VAGINA" then it doesn't really leave you in a position to criticise the intellectual worth of other peoples' posts.

I forgot. there are also the kids that never went to the beach. they just sat at home thinking too hard about things.

I think seeing the castle washed away was part of the fun.

When I first started reading this thread I felt sorry for The Rise for not being able to go to Mexico..then when I saw clogs first post I thought he was being a bit harsh...then a few pages later i came to the conclusion that he is actually right. I could be a wanker and say how I think The Rise are just another one of these bands that are playing the music cool at the minute, and when this music comes out of the charts they will be gone, But I wouldnt sink to that level...but since you guys are using such clever and witty comebacks to peoples comments (i.e YOU HAVE A VAGINA) then I might aswell just say that...so blah

sometimes kids build a sandcastle with turrets, and sometimes kids build sandcastles with a moat... but kids rarely have the dedication to build a sandcastle with both!

make of that what you will, my friends.

who me? you obviously build the most subdued of sandcastles. (Probably quite good sandcastles though, people from Kinross have the skillz)

A sandcastle without any sand, is like a car without a seatbelt.

make of that what you will, my friends.
