Is This Music? - Dundee - City of Discovery
Interesting article on Dundee's indie music scene on the Is This Music? blog site.
Take a look.

despite the predictable shite about the gash "pointed plimsole indie" (ta to whoever coined that btw), it was nice to see quality fare like Alamos, the Otterley and Fritz getting a mention.
p.s. OBVZ Kill All Celebrities were notable in their absence also. |

meh usual is this music stuff and I wouldnt expect anything else, the article is not bad and manages to cover good stuff in there.
no mention of avast! or state of affairs though which I thought was peculiar for that type of mag an article showing things going on in dundee is better than no article if people want an article or review to appear in that mag all you have to do is send one in, they will probably print it if its decent enough |

Thanks for the link, pretty good article by the way - and it got me thinking... how many Dundee bands have dis-banded in the past year? I've had a list going for 12 months now @ inDundee.co.uk : music, bands, studios, stuff and think it's time to do some cleaning out...
So far, I've heard these bands have vanished (and I'll move 'em into an "archive" section): - The Hoffs - Dirty Wee Middens - The Unknown - reborn as The Goodnights |

" Last but by no means least we have Juliet Kilo: boasting TS Eliot as an influence it’s clear they won’t sound like The Hoosiers. And they don’t, their art-rock aimed as much at the mind as the body."
hahaha! awesome. |

What the hell is an Alex Chilton meets Gram Parsons harmony? Thats so fucking stupid. Journalists name dropping 'cult' artists completely out of context really gets my goat.

Ok, having listened to Big Star and Gram Parsons many times I would say that it's an inaccurate description, in my opinion they don't sound like a mixture of those artists, it sounds like hes picked two obscure artists at random and decided to squeeze them into the article- out of context. I don't have anything else to say on it. If you're unhappy with it then thats fine with me. Merry Xmas |

1. I'd hardly call Gram Parsons or Big Star 'obscure'
2. Likening the Hazey Janes to a blend of the two is a pretty accurate description IMO. 3. Are you just peeved cos your band wasn't mentioned? ![]() |
