Race for life
Just wondered if anyone else from Dundee is taking part in this years race for life.
I have never taken part before but i figured it would be a good way to remember my dad who died of cancer in 1998. Ten years now hes been gone, its gonna be emotional, my sisters are doing it with me too. please get involved, its for a good cause or if not please sponsor me, even just 50p, it all makes a difference. Race for Life - Avril Young's Fundraising Page thanks in advance!! avz xx |

I suppose it can go two ways, obv it rules out men but it might encourage more woman to take part because of that personally though, i think men should be allowed to do it...or at least maybe organise a mens one aswell?? theres no reason i can see of why it should purely be for women. good luck to anyone who is doing it though |

Playing with fire... but I would say its bigger than 50% since, in my opinion, men are more likely to want to do endurance events such as this as a means of showing off... something which women are less inclined to do.

i agree that men should be allowed to take part too.
i found this on the race for life website... Race for Life is the only women-only event of its type organised by Cancer Research UK. We restrict entry to women due to the wishes of our participants. It is one of our most successful events because it is a unique opportunity for women to come together in a non-competitive and celebratory atmosphere. But Race for Life has many male supporters, who help out on the day and support the participants. Men can get involved by volunteering with us. For a lowdown on our volunteering opportunities, please call our hotline on 0871 641 2272. Some of our Race for Life events are followed by Run for Moore 5k runs for men. So why not get the men in your life involved in raising money for Cancer Research UK too? We also organise a thriving series of 10k running events. These take place in beautiful venues across the UK and are open to men and women who want to raise money to support our vital research. For further info, please visit the Cancer Research UK 10k website or phone 0870 190 9000. |
