Question Religious?

... how consistent are your beliefs?

i like to think mine are consistent to a certain extent. i dont drink or smoke and i dont gamble. when it comes to sex, thats when it goes out of the window.

i believe in my religion to a certain extent, but i also believe that most of the worlds religions are connected and are just different ways of believing in the same thing.

What about you people?

I agree, at least that what it started out as until people skewed it. That's what makes religious war/bigotry so unbelievably stupid in my opinion.

i don't have any religious beliefs.

me = agnostic atheist. What makes religious bigotry so bloody stupid is that someones personal beliefs are their own business and nobody elses. you can be Christian, Atheist, Pagan, Sikh, Muslim or worship purple paperclips, as long as you don't hate anyone elses for their beliefs I dont really care

I'm not religious myself, but I have every respect for people who are, as long as they don't try to force their opinions on me, or criticise me for not believing.

I agree with Cornell completely, I respect beliefs but I'm sick of Jehovah's Witness' and Mormons at my f**king door.

You don't see me wandering into churches asking if I can invite anarchy into their home so leave Jesus outside mine.

Religion: A set of beliefs and philosophies that someone applies to their life to help guide them through life.

So yes, according to the above definition, what my perception of religion is, I am religious. I take ideas from all kinds of things, kind of my own religion. I believe all the talk of blokes in the sky creating the world and stuff is merely metaphorical for other things. I think religion goes wrong when people take religion is taken as more than what they are (stories, philosophies and guidelines to help guide a person through life).

http://www.religioustolerance.org/rel_theory1.htm is an excellent link for an introduction to religion and some current popular theories on the creation of religion
