Lightbulb what would life be like if....

life was found elsewhere in the universe. For example, intelligent life. How do you think that would impact on ourselves. Do you think it would unite the people of Earth and resolve major conflicts? I'm thinking that it might change the way people percieve human life. Imagine it, your reaction to the news that life had been found elsewhere, or that we had been found by other life forms.

I always think that when i watch independance day, I dont think it would completely solve our problems, but yes, i think people on earth would unite a little bit more.

If it were to be broadcast on the news that contact had been made, or other life discovered, i think it would be the largest media and world-changing event in human history.

I would say as well that things would be different depending on if their was any threat of danger or not.

i personally believe there is life elsewhere, there has to be. It only seems logicall that if life can exist here, then surely in the vast expanse of the universe the conditions must exist for life to exist some place else.

With discovery of ice a few inches below the surface on mars, its surely a encouraging sign. Especially with another recent discovery of a gaseous planet similar to Jupiter in another solar system.

i'm going to be enforcing it a lot more now that i have some free time since i finished upgrading the entire site. People not sticking to the topics is having an effect on the popularity of the site. People come to the site, look at a topic with potential and realise its degraded into total shite.

Either stick to the topic, or if you must talk shite, do it in the bollocks forum.

Now, where were we.

What if there is another planet earth out there somewhere, we go on and on about 'aliens' and visualise tall thin people with big black eyes and green skin, but they could just as easily be identical to us, or maybe they've had longer to evolve, and are as superior to us as we are to apes. Wouldn't that bring us back down to earth (no pun intended), and make us think twice about how great we really are.

the 'loch ness monster' isnt really going to be classes as Alien life though, i mean, the oceans of the world are less explored that space. Yet this is part of our own word that remains unexplored and already we are out hunting to life elsewhere.

I was watching a program about this cave diver and so far he has discovered 250+ marine life species and 18 completely new animal groups. Thats like discovering a new species of mammal.

To find intelligent life in the universe is going to have a huge effect on life here, what will that say about religion. Will it nullify the legitimacy of belief in God? or will it increase these beliefs, that indeed this is an alien lifeform, but we were all created by God....

or do you think the science world is going to take as evidence that God does not exist but indeed that life is a scientific phenomenon.

Hey there sports fans

yeah thats a really good point, wouldnt effect so much to some
but it'll break ppl's belief's & hopes & everything they spent there
life believing in, If a time comes like that (not any time soon I hope)
then I dont think that right now we can really think of how we'll
feel then, it'd jus simply blow us away,
nobody would have any idea what to expect, for if this whole "probing"
malarky is true then they know our weakness's & how we can be
killed, but with them we would have no idea wot to expect
except for the books we read of ppl saying they had a tool up
there bum from aliens
