Ouch! - That Kaliber 10k site has an insanely slow download time.

However, it doesn’t look half bad once its loaded. Not sure that everything had to be divided up into ‘quite’ so many different little sections as it borders on have far to much on each page. Still looks good though

yeah, its had the same design for years now but its still original. they definately need to do something about the download time though, maybe convert all the gifs to pngs or something. Its slow and i'm on a 100mb connection.

PNG files were created to be an open image standard, free of patents. The GIF format has problems with patents.

Like GIF files, PNG files are designed to store drawings rather than photos, images that have large areas of identical colour. It uses lossless compression as well.

Unlike GIF, PNG supports 32 bit images, as opposed to GIF's 8 bits.

Animated PNGs aren't widely supported yet, but there is a format for it called MNG.

ZenElements - Great Web Design - 002/Many:

The Site - Fantasy Interfaces
OK. So if you don't like sites entirely in flash this is probably not your cup of tea/coffee but please try and look past all that.
It is fast loading, clearly laid out with simple structure that is non-cluttered. Personally & Graphically, I LOVE the way everything is reflected, especially the little interactive navigation buttons located over the site. This brings me to my main down point of the site:

Navigation could be slightly better, I am sure there will be many people finding it hard to use. I like it because of the little interactive buttons but it is basically hidden navigation. You have to click something to open the navigation in the first place, not ideal. Even once this is opened, some users will find it difficult to understand

I did not mind the site, it was quite tastefully done.
The only thing that annoyed me were to sounds but the site did not offend my eyes...

The CONTENT however, 'Pink his Willy!'

Great webdesign = simple. I'm old and jaded and the only site I dont hate anymore is google. The most stupid annoying site I've looked at lately is www.mastodonrocks.com .

This is a statement I agree with, I personally like the Japanese style because of its simplicity.
There is definitely a point where a website (or anything graphical) can go past the point of 'greatness' and this is usually because the designer tries to force too much on the concept.

Ok... it is hard not to be bias. There are improvements that I could make but what site is 100% percent perfect... mine just might scrape past with 93%
Seriously though, considering I still have © 2005 at the bottom of every page and the pages all carry the same one error from keeping it WC3 compliant (background image to the navigation), there are a few bits I need to get round to completing.

However, I welcome any positive or negative critiques about the site, personal preference is something we are all entitled to so… let me know how you feel about it.

Note:
1 - I don't think I will be changing anything drastically at the moment, banners and such like... *nudges Gazz*
2 - *Nudges Evil_Emz for putting the site up in the first place* Still love you though!

I know what you are saying. I put my site up in a rush as I needed to start my design studio up really quickly. The main part of my site I want to change is the samples of work page. It is so clunky and a pain to update with new work.

I've now done so much work since i put up that page I want to do a complete revamp! Finding the time is an issue though.
