Great Web Design

Please post websites that you think are designed well, have great functionality and are generally 'great'.

I am interested to see a range of new websites that I have not yet come across - I am sure there are many. Post websites that you find attractive, work well and please tell me what aspects of them you like and mention if there is something in particlar you do not like about your selected design

Note: Please do not post sites like ebaumsworld, boreme, burntface man... I am interested in only the websites them selves.

Thank you,
ZenElements

ZenElements - Great Web Design - 001/Many:

The Site - RealitySlip
I like the way that the graphic rolls across the main site. I also like the grey/orange colour or 'color' scheme and how the content is displayed, although it can be quite difficult to navigate through.
I do find the repeated music irritating along with the button sound effects and so generally just all of the sound.

I've always really like this site: www.tristenshields.com.

He's an American guy we played a gig with a while ago. I think the whole look of the site is great. Especially the bar across the top that is always slightly changing.

It looks nice, but it suffers from a pretentiously annoying interface. The point of web-design is not to show off the e-penis of the person that designed the website.

This is another site that suffers from the same problem http://www.gametutorials.com/

I hate sites with pointlessly flashy interfaces.

Bear in mind though, I'm not a web-designer, I'm more of a techy type. I'm more technically minded than artistically minded. I can do some very web design though, as despite being an art mong, I'm pretty good with photoshop.

in my view this is one of the best site designs on the web...
http://www.csszengarden.com

Take a look at the different styles. Its accessible and meets all w3c guidelines on web design and accessibility. Intelligent web design doesn't neccessarily mean boring, this site counters the argument the designing around standards leads to dull sites.

I don't mind this site, although I think alot of it is very plain there is good use of CSS. I also like the way the top left/bottom right images create a border.

I also happen to like the design with the Tori Gate... *Nudges Gazz*

did you click the different styles on the right hand side? click them and it changes the layout and design of the page to show the advantages of using CSS over standard tables and inline css.

I did indeed

One of my friends incorporated this idea of using different CSS sets to change where the navigation was displayed, left, centre or right. He is good at coding things but unfortunatly his design skills are not great, the idea was there though.

i cant wait to unviel the site i've been doing for my employers. Its full CSS and its W3C compliant. I remember the first version of UGS... not pretty.

www.k10k.net is one of my other ultimate favourites. It too is designed in CSS (cascading style sheets for those that dont know).

for a css site it's pretty slow to load.

I'm all for CSS and stuff but sometimes the W3C guidelines can be too restrictive for websites that are promoting design services.

My website is W3C XHTML and CSS compliant but I wanted to make my site look simple anyway. The hardest bit was getting the flash menu embeded in such a way that it met the W3C gudelines, that took a bit of getting right!

www.pixelsink.com

I hate sites that are entirely in flash.

I shall post some lnks later.
