Pray, how does one go about creating an animated avatar?

I'd imagine you'd want to create an animated GIF, using Photoshop or some other such editing package.

if you want to make a fancy movey about one like mines, then use Animation Shop Pro. You can get it no it's own or free with Paint Shop Pro.
