Banksy strikes again

this time a neanderthal painting on a rock of a man pushing a shopping trolley. Made it into a museum for almost 5 days before being spotted. This dude is a genius!

I have to admit, I'd not heard of Banksy before. I must say I'm really impressed, this is awesome. I love the idea of sneaking art into galleries, and watching pretentious arty types make twats of themselves. It's very Chris Morris.

As for the graffiti, I'm of the opinion that tagging is really lame, but that graffiti of this sort is most definitely art.

I really like the guy's sense of humour as well.

man I love Banksy.

also this is an excellent quote:

"The time of getting fame for your name on its own is over. Artwork that is only about wanting to be famous will never make you famous. Any fame is a by-product of making something that means something. You don't go to a restaurant and order a meal because you want to have a shit."

I loved the bug with wings and rockets, he comes up with bizarre pseudo latin names for these ancient artifacts.

The Book is called Cut It Out, it doesn't have cut out stencils in it, sorry to have confused you if that's what you were thinking!! I got it from Waterstones, it just a little black book with lots of his artwork and paper cuttings and comments that people have made about his work!!

Go to:

http://www.artofthestate.co.uk/Banksy/banksy.htm

It's a little mini gallery of his and it has the Crime Watch ones on it. One of them is a landscape painting which has police tape painted into it!!
