Miki Warren's Mural - Guantanamo

Anyone read the Evening Telegraph today in Dundee about that girl from Montrose that did the mural on a soon to be demolished wall?

It's actually quite good, a strong political message, but the residents in her area are asking for it to be removed immediately, as if it was some sort of offensive symbol.

I'm trying to find a pic of it on the web but have had no luck so far, so if anyone can find one please post it here else i'll try and scan the picture from the paper in.

It's the Disney Land Guantanamo with a stencil of a prisoner wearing an orange jump suit and Mickey Mouse ears.

I amn't offended by it and she shouldn't have to get rid of it, but it is in no way original being based entirely on that Banksy stunt, which in turn was based on a really obvious political statement for people who are too stoned to fucking bother picking up a newspaper and prefer things to be brought to the world-stage by a bullshitting guerilla "artist". Most of the people that like Banksy are just fucking.. idiot middle-class kids raging against the machine for something to do, and if they really cared would join Amnesty or do something other than paint, sorry.. STENCIL mixed-up political statements that ultimately say nothing.

I found the continuation of the story in the Tele on page 11 or whatever much more interesting where a bungling Bristol City Council graffiti removal team painted over one of Banksy's earliest works worth £100,000 or something with thick black paint.

I also didn't know that there was some kind of Council scheme involving the preservation of any of Banksy's street work in Bristol, man.. what a guerrilla! And having an overpriced published photo book! Man. He's a fucking art terrorist right enough...

Last night I had a GTA San Andreas fantasy where I emptied a whole can of spraypaint into Banksy's face, until he succumbed to the fumes and died and the best bit about it is: I didn't even get a wanted rating!

agree, besides, its distracts attention from the pile of rubble that was the remains of a building. I know which I'd rather look at.

I just don't understand why-oh-why. It is on a technical level not very well done, and on a conceptual level almost entirely taken from Banksy's thing. At least the one thing in Banksy's favour is that he doesn't get permission...

Also whether or not I went to, or currently go to art college is irrelevant. I don't need to be qualified to say what I like or dislike, just as everyone else is entitled to their opinion on this.

Also.. I like Alan and KJ: my beef's with Banksy!
