I was invited to the first showing of this at the DCA today. Really enjoyed it. Some fantastic archive footage of Dundee form the 50’s.

A new documentary on the BBC featuring Brian Cox as he follows the journey of Dundee’s old jute trade. A personal journey into his own past and that of the Dundee Jute Wallahs who went to work in India in the 1950s.

The British Government has released the final version of the Digital Britain report that seeks to push Britain’s digital industry and economy to the forefront.

As we made clear in our industrial strategy Building Britain’s Future: New Industry, New Jobs – we believe Britain needs an active industrial policy if we are to maximise the benefits from the digital revolution. Doing nothing or leaving everything to the market would leave Britain behind. We need a clear and effective approach which is
consistent, ensures full access, provides regulatory certainty, smarter public procurement and shows a readiness to intervene where necessary.

February 20th, 2009 California Schemin’, the story of Silibil n Brains – BBC Radio Scotland News | No Comments »

Just got sent this from Gavin himself.

Hey Everyone

Check out the Radio documentary I just did with BBC Radio Scotland. Its airing tonight (20th Feb 2009) at 11.30 If you cant get it on radio then listen to the live stream.

Its a mental story and its very hard to get the best bits into a 30 minute doc, its also extremely hard to summarize things quickly for radio and I believe everyone interviewed including myself spoke for hours. There is just to many big moments in the story but i heard there are plans for it to be turned into a series down the line and closer to the release of the book, We’ll see. Oh and ignore any recent tabloid press on the story as usual they get everything wrong, they are useless. Pick up Jane Graham’s Article in the Big issue this week or read Decca Aitkenheads Guardian piece which broke the story, I think its still on the website.
