Abattoir was an alternative music club night held in the University Of Abertay's Students Association (UADSA) during 1995. It initially ran on alternate Thursdays to the Roc-soc nights. It covered a wide range of alternative music styles with specialist DJs doing an hour of their chosen style. This included hip-hop, indie, Industrial (with Shanna DJ-ing), Punk (with Keith Dj-ing) and alternative. At the start of the new University year, Abattoir, moved to a Saturday night. During this time they also put on live bands and the night featured performances from popular local bands like Broccoli, Apple Orchard, Happy But Twisted, Junk, Baby Asprin etc. However, the number of people attending the night began to diminish over time and eventually the night stopped running.

Abbatoir Trivia:

Abbatoir organiser and DJ Keith also used to contribute to Kerrang! magazine under the pen name "Eddie Thomas". He generally reviewed punk and hardcore releases for the magazine. He gave Broccoli's "Home" album a 5K review.
